author visits Ridgeview to celebrate reading | Life


Popular children’s book author Michael Shoulders visited Ridgeview School for a day of celebration of reading and literacy on December 14th. His visit was scheduled as part of Ridgeview’s Olympic Literacy Theme for 2021-2022.

The purpose of this theme is to help students establish and set individual and group reading goals, and to make the connection between literacy and personal success.

During the visit, Shoulders discussed the writing process, how books are created, and setting goals.

The author lives in Clarksville and has written dozens of popular, colorful and engaging children’s books, such as “V is For Volunteer – A Tennessee Alphabet” and “T is for Titanic – A Titanic Alphabet”, which won awards. . of the California Reading Association, the National Parenting Publication Association and is also a finalist for the USA Best Book Award.

Shoulders has written an intermediate novel, several primer, and books for Kindergarten through elementary readers. It focuses on presenting concepts of poetry and non-fiction in new and exciting ways that engage children’s minds and imaginations.
