Deon’s work is no stranger to screen adaptations. The adaptation of his novel Trackers – a co-production between M-Net and Cinemax – broke audience records and became the most popular show on M-Net in 2019. It continued to make its international debut on Cinemax in June 2020.

Other series include The cap, an adaptation of the book Death before you die broadcast in 2016 on Universal TV and Orion released on kykNET in 2006.

Deon added that they were busy adapting three books, two for television, one for a movie. He said that while the process is fun, it also takes a long time “because it keeps me from writing the next novel.”

“But we’re living in a new golden age of television, with streaming platforms and so on, so you have to take the opportunity while it’s there.”
