Five award-winning authors host fundraising event for local library

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG / WECP) – Five award-winning sci-fi and fantasy authors made an appearance in Panama City on Tuesday night.

‘Lasers and Lagers’ took place at Lie’brary on Beck. The event allowed area readers to connect with writers from their favorite genres for conversations and drinks while raising funds for the Friends of Bay County Public Libraries.

Guests enjoyed a variety of activities ranging from author readings and question-and-answer sessions to a raffle offering chances to win signed books, memorabilia and other prizes.

“Me and a group of writers from Chris Kennedy Publishing got together and decided we wanted to do an event here in Bay County,” said Ian J. Malone, one of the authors, “I just came from this region originally, so are a number of our other authors, so when it came time to set up something like that, we knew this was where we wanted to have it.

“I would like everyone to be involved, no matter what matters to you, make it better. We wanted to improve the library a bit by doing what we can… find something important to you and make a difference, ”said Chris Kennedy, president of Chris Kennedy Publishing.
