Warsaw Community Schools has announced that local author Dani RG is to visit all eight elementary schools over the next three weeks to share her recently released book, “Please”.

This guest reader opportunity aligns with the district’s mission and strategic pillars, particularly empathy, according to a WCS press release.

Sarah Graham, co-director of counseling at Warsaw Community High School and team leader for the Empathy Pillar, accompanied Dani RG to the Lincoln Elementary library on Friday where she was introduced by Polly Biltz, digital learning specialist . The library was packed with teachers and sixth-grade students eager to welcome the local author and participate in a question-and-answer session with the public, the statement said.

“Please” is a book filled with illustrations. Through rhyme, this picture book introduces the reader to little Livi Robinson who finds her mom funny. Although her mother forgets so many things like her money or the way to certain places, there is one important word she always remembers to say. Through her mother’s example, Livi realizes that the benefit of saying please goes far beyond just having good manners, according to the press release. While her mother uses please before asking her kids to get up, hustle getting ready for school, and taking walks to the pool, Livi discovers the value of being polite because not only she does good for others, but she also gives Livi an inner glow. In this children’s picture book, a little girl learns to feel good on the inside by practicing good manners on the outside.

After reading “Please” on Friday, the author opened up for questions. Students asked questions about the author’s journey, her journey to being published, her work with the illustrator, and what inspired her to write the book. Dani RG explained to the students that she has been rhyming since she was a child and enjoys creating stories that entertain and inspire children as well as their parents. Dani RG shared that the idea came to him while mowing, that the book is semi-autobiographical and that it was a 10-year process from conception to publishing his book on Amazon.

Dani RG currently lives with her husband, three children and her Golden Retriever in Warsaw.

Children from all WCS elementary schools will have the opportunity to meet the author and purchase a signed copy of the book at a discounted price. The book is also available locally at the Belove Gift Shop in Winona Lake.
