Midland ISD’s Special Services Department distributed book packs filled with age-appropriate books to over 750 pre-K students across the district. Each book pack included five books adapted to the reading level and the language of instruction of the pupil (Spanish or English). Book packs will also include a journal, postcard, crayons, and book-related activities to promote comprehension skills.
The aim of the program is to develop each student’s interest in books and keep them reading during the summer months. It also encourages families to spend time reading together and develop a taste for learning.
