Nanoscope presents new gene distribution and electrophysiology platforms at ARVO

ARLINGTON, TX (May 5, 2021) – Nanoscope Technologies LLC, a biotechnology company developing gene therapies for the treatment of retinal disease, presents several scientific presentations highlighting its groundbreaking research into optical delivery of genes for the restoration of vision and OCT-guided electrophysiology platforms for characterization of retinal degeneration and evaluation of the efficacy of cell gene therapy at the (virtual) annual meeting of ARVO 2021, May 1-7.

ARVO, the Association for Vision and Ophthalmology Research, is the world’s largest eye and vision research organization with nearly 11,000 members in over 75 countries.

Nanoscope’s flagship product is an optogenetic gene therapy, vMCO-010, which delivers light-sensitive Multiple Characteristic Opsin (MCO) into retinal cells to restore vision in patients with retinal degeneration. If successful, optogenetic therapy would be the first treatment aimed at correcting these retinal diseases.

Nanoscope is also developing an alternative method of gene delivery based on non-viral light, designed to be more targeted with less immunogenicity. Upcoming presentations below, on Thursday, May 6, will highlight Nanoscope’s Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) guided optical gene delivery platform technology enabling robust OCD expression in degenerate retina and the OCT-guided electrophysiology platform to monitor the efficacy of cell gene therapy.
