Naruto novels will be adapted into manga


Naruto announces new manga adaptations for Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls and Sasuke Retsuden: The Uchiha Descendents and the Heavenly Stardust.

Naruto gets a manga adaptation for two of his light novels.

The official Twitter account of Naruto announced that two new manga for Sasuke Retsuden: Descendants of Uchiha and Heavenly Stardust and Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls would both be released in 2022 for Shueisha’s online magazine, Shonen Jump +. Two illustrators were asked for the adaptation. Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls will be illustrated by Sai Natsuo, who previously worked as an illustrator for Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kogami. During this time, Sasuke Retsuden will be illustrated by Kimura Shingo, a young artist best known for Medical punch !! and Japonica.

Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls is a light novel written by Shou Hinata, which takes place between the end of Naruto Shippuden and the beginning of Boruto: The Next Generations Of Naruto. The story centers on Mirai Sarutobi, the cousin of future Boruto sensei, Konohamaru Sarutobi. Fifteen years after the Fourth Shinobi World War, the entire village of Leaf finds itself preoccupied with preparations for another Kage summit. Kakashi and Gai, both now retired, decide to take the chance and go for a well-deserved rest. Not wanting to let them go unsafe, Naruto assigns Mirai to the two as a bodyguard for their entire vacation.


Sasuke Retsuden: Descendants of Uchiha and Heavenly Stardust takes on a relatively more serious tone. Written by Jun Esaka, the story centers on Sasuke Uchiha’s infiltration into the Astronomical Research Institute in search of a cure for Naruto, who falls ill with an illness that can eventually render him completely incapable of ‘use your chakra. Believing that the Institute might have an answer, Sasuke disguises himself as one of his prisoners in order to save his friend.

Originally published in 1999, Naruto was a manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto for Shueishak’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. An animated adaptation premiered in Japan in 2002 and completed in 2007, with a total of 220 episodes. A series of suites entitled Naruto Shippuden started airing in 2007 and ended in 2017 with 500 episodes. Since its release, Naruto went on to become one of the most successful manga and anime franchises in industry history, and was one of the Big Three of the 2000s, along with Tite Kubo Bleach and Eiichiro Oda A piece.


Naruto and Naruto Shippuden is available to stream on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Funimation. The continuation in progress, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, is available on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The original manga is licensed by VIZ Media for digital and physical release.
