Short story by Arunachalee author published in Asian anthology

Itanagar: A short story titled “Local”, written by author Arunachalee Gankhu Sumnyan, has been included in the fifth edition of “The Best Asian Short Stories”, an annual anthology series published in Singapore.

Published by renowned publishing house Kitaab Singapore, The Best Asian Short Stories brings together the work of 20 Asian writers residing in Asia and other countries each year.

Sumnyan’s story arrived in the 2021 edition of the book.

An assistant professor at Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, Sumnyan (35) is known for his creative writing in the literary industry.

His poetry collection ‘Old Friends’ Parade’ was shortlisted for the Satish Verma Young Writers’ Award 2015, an event organized by Muse India.

Sumnyan’s poems have also been published in journals like The Indian Literature and The Little Journal of Northeast India.

His short stories have also been published in several state and national magazines.

Sumnyan is also the chairman of the Tirap district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS).

Congratulating Sumnyan SPLA Chairman Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi and General Secretary Mukul Pathak said its success will drive many Arunachalee writers in the days to come.
