The Tucson Book Festival relies heavily on volunteers to make it all happen. More than 2,000 people contribute to the success of the festival and the majority are volunteers.
Volunteers are needed this year to accompany authors on campus, attend book signings, support exhibitors and artists, serve as festival guides, staff information booths, and many other jobs. There are hundreds of volunteer opportunities. This is a great opportunity to meet authors and help organize an event that promotes literacy.
Jane Klipp says: “Our grandson, Bryce Malenstyn, came from Canada three years in a row to help out with the festival. He really enjoys getting to know so many volunteers and being so important to the success of the festival, not to mention all the cool books and authors he’s met. Calling all teens, come lend a hand.
This year’s festival will take place March 12-13 on the University of Arizona campus. Volunteers can choose their preferred positions on a first-come, first-served basis. Two training sessions are available, but not required, at 8:30 a.m. on February 27 or March 5.
